Craw-Kan Employees Donate to Local Charities

Posted on August 27, 2021

We are very proud of our employees and their desire to help the communities that we serve!  For years, Craw-Kan employees have participated in a project referred to as “A Time to Share”.  Each year we select families in need who live in our cooperative territory, and provide a generous amount of Christmas gifts for their children using funds raised and donated by employees.  In 2020, our employees decided they wanted to take their service to the community to the next level and started a group they call Craw-Kan CARES.  This group began a fund drive to increase employee giving that would be used to fund a quarterly service project.

Our employees kicked off the first new project of 2021 by selecting a group of area agencies who provide food to families in need.  Employees shopped for them based on the wish lists that they provided. In total, Craw-Kan CARES purchased and delivered just under $1490 of food (and a few personal hygiene items) and supplied them to area agencies and blessing boxes for distribution in Girard, Arma, Fort Scott, Cherokee, Weir, Pittsburg, McCune, and Pleasanton.  For the second project of the year CARES decided to support area children and selected both Fostering Connections and Dream Big Little One for a $1000 donation.

Dream Big Little One takes gently-used, or new donated beds and bedding and distribute them free of charge to area children and families in need in southeast Kansas and southwest Missouri.  Fostering Connections is a local, 501c3, non-profit organization designed to make a positive difference for foster/adoptive families and children in our community.

Our Craw-Kan CARES group is currently working on a third project of the year which will be centered around assisting area veterans, and of course, they are already planning for the annual “Time to Share” Christmas present project!  Craw-Kan is so proud of our generous employees who have donated to fund these charities activities and the work they have done to organize these activities.  In fact, our Board of Directors has committed the Co-op to match all employee donations for the year, which will allow our employees to make an even larger impact in 2022!
